Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Irania mobile application ("App") or any related services operated by Irania ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Irania, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you are using Irania on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Irania is a bilingual (English and Persian) community directory mobile application that allows users to:
- Browse and search Persian-owned businesses and services by city and category.
- View business listings on an interactive map.
- Save businesses to a personal favourites list.
- Discover local events and cultural happenings.
- Access educational resources for newcomers.
- View and redeem exclusive deals ("Iraniantastic Deals") from participating businesses.
- Submit business listings and deals for consideration, and publish gatherings after automated safety checks.
The App may include Google Maps features and content. Your use of Google Maps features and content is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
The App is free to use. Every feature is available to every user at no cost, and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice.
2.1 Voluntary contributions
Irania offers an optional way to contribute money toward running costs, found under Settings → Support Irania. Contributions are entirely voluntary and are never required to use any part of the App.
- Nothing is unlocked. A contribution grants no feature, content, subscription, badge, recognition, ranking benefit, ad removal, or any other benefit inside or outside the App. Everything in Irania remains available to everyone, whether or not they contribute.
- Recipient. Contributions are received by Irania, the operator of the App, and are used toward hosting, mapping services, and the work of keeping listings current.
- Not a charitable donation. Irania is not a registered charity or non-profit. Contributions are not charitable donations, are not tax-deductible, and no tax receipt is issued.
- One-off. Each contribution is a single payment. Nothing recurring is created, and there is no subscription to cancel.
- How payment is processed. On iOS, contributions are made as in-app purchases processed by Apple and are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. On Android, the App opens a payment page hosted by Stripe, and the payment is subject to Stripe's terms. Irania never receives, handles, or stores your card number, security code, or bank details.
- Refunds and disputes. Because a contribution buys nothing, contributions are generally non-refundable. If a contribution was made in error, contact us at [email protected] and we will help where we are able. Refunds for iOS in-app purchases are handled by Apple and must be requested through Apple; refunds and payment disputes for contributions made through Stripe are handled under Stripe's process and our own review.
- Records held by others. Apple and Stripe keep their own records of a transaction under their own terms and retention policies. Deleting your Irania account does not delete those records, and we cannot delete them on your behalf.
2.2 News content
City news cards may be AI-assisted summaries of third-party news sources, generated by Irania's system from an admin-allowlisted publisher RSS or Atom feed. Routine community updates may be published automatically after a contextual risk assessment: the source must be current and approved, the summary must be valid low-risk output with no risk signals or concrete backstop signal, and an independent safety check must pass. A sensitive-domain mention by itself does not block routine publication. Concrete harmful incidents, threats, casualties, missing people, criminal allegations, emergencies, contamination or outbreaks, dangerous instructions, medical, legal, or financial advice, political or election claims needing verification, privacy or identity claims, and ambiguous, unsupported, malformed, stale, flagged, or failed-check items are held in a private editorial queue until an administrator reviews them. AI-assisted summaries may contain errors and should be checked against the original source. Each AI-assisted news card shows the original source, its source publication date when supplied, and a link to the original source. You can report an AI-assisted news card in the app if it is inaccurate or objectionable. Irania may correct, edit, or remove published items. AI-assisted summaries are not staff-authored unless stated otherwise, and Irania does not warrant their factual accuracy.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features (such as Favourites and business submission), you must create an account using Firebase Authentication, including Google sign-in. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful registration information.
- Maintain the security of your account credentials.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Irania only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent business listings or deals.
- Use the App to harass, defame, or harm any individual or business.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its infrastructure.
- Scrape, harvest, or copy data from the App without our written permission.
- Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt or damage the App.
- Use the App to send unsolicited commercial communications (spam).
- Impersonate any person, business, or entity.
- Violate any applicable local, provincial, national, or international law or regulation.
Violations of this section may result in immediate account suspension and, where appropriate, reporting to law enforcement authorities.
5. Business Listings & Submissions
Irania's business listings may be provided by business owners, workers, community members, Irania administrators, publicly available information, third-party sources, business websites, map or place providers, and direct submissions. We may create, curate, import, edit, or publish listings to help launch and maintain the community directory.
A business listing does not mean the business submitted the listing, approved the listing, is affiliated with Irania, or is endorsed by Irania. We do not independently verify all listing information, and business details may become inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
Business owners or authorized representatives may request corrections, claim a listing, or request removal by contacting [email protected]. By submitting a business listing, you represent that:
- You are authorized to submit information about the business.
- All information provided is accurate, current, and not misleading.
- You will promptly notify us of any changes to the listing information.
We reserve the right to approve, reject, edit, or remove any listing at our sole discretion, including but not limited to listings that are inaccurate, duplicates, offensive, or irrelevant to the community directory.
If a listing, deal, or placement is sponsored, paid, promoted, or otherwise receives preferential placement because of a business relationship with Irania, we will identify it as sponsored or promoted where it appears.
5.1 Sponsored Advertisements
The News section may include business advertisements selected, published, and managed by Irania administrators. An advertisement may be shown after the second news item and after each subsequent group of three news items. Advertisements may be scoped to a selected city or shown more broadly, and may include an image and a click-through link to a third-party website.
- Clear labeling. Sponsored business placements are clearly labeled as advertisements or sponsored content where they appear. Their position or appearance does not mean that Irania endorses the advertiser.
- Advertiser responsibility. Advertisers and their authorized representatives are responsible for ensuring that their advertisement, claims, images, offers, and destination links are truthful, current, and legally permitted, and that they have the rights needed for all submitted materials.
- No endorsement or guarantee. An advertisement or click-through link does not constitute an endorsement by Irania. Irania does not guarantee an advertiser's products, services, pricing, availability, safety, legality, or fulfillment, and disputes should be directed to the advertiser.
- Review and removal. Irania may reject, edit, pause, or remove an advertisement at any time, including when it is inaccurate, misleading, inappropriate, unavailable, or inconsistent with our policies.
- External links. Following an advertisement link takes you to a third-party website. That website has its own terms, privacy policy, cookies, and practices, which Irania does not control.
Disclaimer: Irania is a community directory. We do not endorse, guarantee, or warrant any business listed on the platform. Users are encouraged to independently verify business information before making decisions.
6. Iraniantastic Deals
"Iraniantastic Deals" are promotional offers submitted by businesses and published by Irania administrators. By participating in a deal (as a business or user), you acknowledge that:
- Deals are subject to change or cancellation at any time by the participating business or by Irania.
- Irania makes no guarantees regarding deal availability, accuracy, or fulfillment.
- Any dispute regarding a deal must be resolved directly with the business offering it.
- Irania is not liable for any loss or dissatisfaction arising from the use of any deal.
Businesses that submit deals represent that the offers are genuine, authorized, and that the business will honor the deal as described.
7. User-Generated Content
When you submit business listings, deals, or any other content ("User Content") through Irania, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the App and related promotional materials.
You retain ownership of your User Content. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of any content you submit. We may remove User Content that violates these Terms at any time without notice.
7.1 No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on Irania. You may not submit, post, or transmit User Content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, deceptive, or that infringes another person's rights. This applies to every part of the App that accepts your input, including business listings, events, gatherings, deals, job posts, Wall of Kindness items, reviews, and profile information.
We provide clearly labelled tools inside the App to report objectionable content and abusive users, and to block abusive users. Any content or user you report is reviewed by our moderators, and content found to be objectionable is removed, and the accounts responsible are suspended or ejected, within 24 hours of the report. You can report content from a listing, deal, event, gathering, job post, Wall of Kindness item, advertisement, or review. For gatherings, you can separately report the gathering, report its organizer, and block that organizer so their gatherings no longer appear for you. For reviews, you can report the review and block its author. You may also contact us directly at [email protected].
Accounts used to post objectionable content, to harass other users, or to evade a previous removal may be suspended or terminated without notice.
8. Intellectual Property
The Irania name, logo, app design, source code, and all proprietary content are the intellectual property of Irania and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written consent.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any business listings or deal information.
- The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App.
- The fitness of the App for any particular purpose.
- The security of data transmitted through the App.
Your use of the App is at your sole risk.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IRANIA AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM:
- Your use of or inability to use the App.
- Reliance on any business listing, deal, or content within the App.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
- Any other matter relating to the App.
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, given that the App is free, is CAD $0).
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Irania at any time and for any reason, including violation of these Terms, without prior notice. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Irania shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our service or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of Irania after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.
